Roy Warren Pylant's Obituary
PYLANT, Roy Warren Age 72, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2010 at Baptist Hospital, Nashville, TN. Roy is survived by his wife Joycelynn and their two children Steven (wife Mary, children Drew and Ethan) and Telisa; sister, Brenda Gilbert of Lexington, KY; children, Patrick Pylant of Wasilla, AK and Venus Pylant of Huntsville, AL; and eight grandchildren. Roy was born in Fayetteville, TN on August 1, 1937. Simply put, Roy was an artist. He was a gifted painter and published writer, but it was as a singer and piano player that he found his true voice. Through his gift of music, he spent the majority of his life providing joy and entertainment for others, which provided a platform for him to travel widely and be loved by many. Early in his travels Roy found his other true love in Hurdsfield, ND, his wife of 44 years, Joycelynn (Mielke). Roy and Joycelynn went on to have a son Steven and daughter Telisa. As a husband and father, Roy was actively involved in community athletics. He served on the board of directors of Madison Little League for many years and was instrumental in the designing and funding of major park renovations in the 1980's. Roy was a blessing to those who knew him best and while he no longer walks in this life, his music plays on… Memorial Ceremonies will be held on Saturday July 24, 2010 at 2PM, at Memorial Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends prior to services from Noon-2PM. Roy's remains will be scattered over The Abyss off the coast of Key Largo, FL on the John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park, in a private family ceremony.
