Mrs. Ruby Jean Fanroy's Obituary
Ruby Jean Fanroy, age 76, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018. Ruby was born on February 17, 1942 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late George and Maggie Jones.
Ruby was a member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and was also a member of Key to the City Club of Sumner County, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Gracie Jones and Margaret Hardway.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel N. Fanroy, Jr; one niece, Diane (Rick) Cole; Nephew, Charles (Brenda) Madry; two stepsons Kevin Neal (Michelle) Fanroy and Michael Anthony (Joyce) Fanroy; she will be missed by a host of other family members and friends.
Ruby sang as a gospel singer along with her two sisters, while playing the piano, for several years. They were billed as “The Jones Sisters” and sang in concerts at various Nashville churches.
Ruby received her Bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University and went on to Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan to receive her Master’s Degree in Social Work. She worked as a Social Worker for 40 years touching hundreds of lives.
Ruby was an avid reader, having read many, many books during her lifetime. In addition, she was a terrific cook.
Ruby and her husband, Samuel, loved to travel. They traveled throughout to various countries in Europe and to South America. They also traveled to all the contiguous 48 United States, plus Alaska and Hawaii. The last trip they took was a round trip journey through the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal (off the Caribbean Sea).
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 12:00 PM noon at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville located at 106 Bluegrass Commons Blvd, Hendersonville, TN 37075. Family will welcome visitors starting at 11 AM.
