Ruby L. Turner-Frost's Obituary
Ruby Louise Turner Frost was the 8th child of Charlie Moore McDaniel and Addie Lee Jones. She was born on their farm in west Tennessee in 1919. She attended the local high school after which she cared for her parents when they became ill. She married James Thomas Turner at 28 and they had 2 children, Nita Turner Maynard and Thomas Turner.
Most everyone knows Ruby as a sweet, caring person. She was known as a favorite aunt, loved by all the cousins who came to visit. She had the bluest eyes and most infectious smile. As a mom of teenagers, she loved to cheer on the local high school basketball team. She was a skilled seamstress, made beautiful quilts, crocheted beautiful blankets and even knitted her own 2-piece suit! She was also an excellent cook, known for delicious chicken and dumplings (don't get them too thick!), biscuits and gravy (she even made chocolate gravy sometimes!), coconut cake, banana pudding, and lots more.
Her daughter, Nita, taught school for 27 years and gave Ruby her only grand-daughter, Louisa, a physical therapist. Ruby came to Nashville to live with Nita several years ago and has enjoyed frequent visits by her son Tom, daughter-in-law Joanne, & grandchildren.
Her son, Tom, was her beloved baby boy. He grew up to be a Pittsburg Steelers fan, but she loved him anyway. He was an excellent son who always took great care of his Mom. He gave Ruby her 1st grandchild, Ben, now a registered nurse, followed by Chris an excellent chef, fitness guru and wild hair extraordinaire, then Scott, an engineer who designs roadways and major construction projects. Ruby adored all three boys. Ben made Ruby a great-grandmother, a title she loved.
She is survived by her daughter, Nita (Turner) Maynard, son, Tom Turner (Joanne), grandsons Ben Turner (Leslee), Chris Turner, Scott Turner (Lauren), granddaughter Louisa Maynard, and great grandchildren, Patrick Turner, Jacob Turner, Jamie Turner, Danny Turner, Matea Turner, Dalton Nigh and Trinity Nigh.
She was a much loved mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
