Russell Bauman Brecheen, Jr.'s Obituary
Russell B. Brecheen, Jr., age 78 of Nashville. Died on Monday, February 18, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 year, Ruby C. Baldock Brecheen, sister, Hilda Pruett (James) of Nashville, niece Trudy Hampton (Charles) of Nashville and nephew Brian Pruett. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell B. Brecheen, Sr., father, and Sadie P. Saunders Brecheen, mother. He was born in Nashville and after graduating high school in 1953, served in the U. S. Army from 1953- 1957. After military service, he joined Beaman Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in 1958 where he worked in Sales and Marketing until he retired in 1997. Russell and his wife Ruby worked in the City Beatification Office and were passionate about this work. In 2003, Russ was appointed to the Metropolitan Beautification and Environment Commission. In 2008, Russ received the prestigious Iron Eyes Cody Award in Washington, D. C. after being nominated by the Metro Beautification and Environment Commission. Russ always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. His desire to keep his city clean, safe and beautiful and to encourage and help other to do the same was his passion. He was a fervent supporter of Vanderbilt sports and will be greatly missed by his wife, family, friends, and those he served with on the Beautification Commission. Visitation is Friday, February 22, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 12-2 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
