Ruth Macon Hancock Yates' Obituary
YATES, Ruth Macon Hancock; Age 93 of Hendersonville, TN passed away February 2, 2011. She was born in Clarksville, TN in 1917 to the late Robin Thomas and Eunice Connell Hancock. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Elliston A. "Shorty" Yates; daughter, Joyce Yates Bledsoe; brothers, Robert Hancock and Jack Hancock. She is survived by her son, Robert E. (Charlote Yates Robinson)Yates; sister, Ann Brush; granddaughters, Joy Renee' Leymon, Tonia Ann (Cain) Raymond, Tara Chantel (Mike) Grammer; great grandchildren, Justin (Marianna) Rogers, Collin Cole, and Austin and Ariel Braden; great-great grandchildren, Caleb, Lorelei and Solomon Rogers; "adopted" daughter, Georgia Ann O'Mainnin. Ruth's first love was the Lord. Her faith led her to worship and teach at, Inglewood Baptist Church, Two Rivers Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Hendersonville. Her ministry included flannel graph and Sunday school teaching, acting as a weekly prayer warrior, and participating in the churches choirs. Her hobbies included, flower and vegetable gardening as well as bowling and travelling with her belated daughter for church fun. While focused on her church and family first, in her career life she spent time working in Aviation for Vultee, as a volunteer for Nashville Memorial Hospital and as a bookkeeper for Yates Motor Co.. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Funeral services will be Saturday February 5, 2011 at 2PM in the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Roger Luther officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
