Mrs. Ruth Lamberth Slack's Obituary
Ruth Lamberth Slack, age 86 of Nashville, TN passed away March 20, 2013. She was born September 20, 1926 in Portland, TN to Floyd and Anna Lou Lamberth. She was a gentle, warm wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sibling who loved and cared for her family beyond measure. As a graduate from Portland High School, she worked in accounting at South Central Bell. She met, dated and married Moe during her time working there. Later she served as secretary at Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she retired after thirty years. She was a dedicated Christian who saw her job at the church as service to her Lord. She was a Sunday School Teacher and an active member of the Friendly Sunday School Class and the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s group. Ruth’s dedication to a life of prayer never wavered. She was hard working all her life beginning as a youngster picking strawberries or tending the farm’s garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lynn Conway “Moe” Slack; son, Lynn Conway “Chip” Slack; grandson, Caleb Conway Slack; parents, Anna Lou and Floyd Lamberth; brothers, Manford and W.J. Lamberth; and sister, Gloria Dye. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Ann Slack; grandchildren, Noah and Joseph Slack; daughter-in-law, Amanda Oldham Slack; and sisters, Mary Ann Patterson, Janette Elliott, Jane Agee and Patsy Carter.
A celebration of Mrs. Slack’s life will be conducted at 2 P.M., Saturday, March 23, 2013 from the Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. David McGregor and Rev. Kenneth Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M., Friday, March 22, 2013 at Spring Hill Funeral Home and from 12 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at the church on Saturday.
