Mrs. Sadie June Walden's Obituary
Mrs. Sadie June Walden, age 90 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023. She was born on August 23, 1932 in Nashville to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Brassell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Walden, sister Betty Gregory, brothers Thomas Brassell, Jr. and Don Brassell. She is survived by sisters Dorothy Matthews, Shirley Reed, Peggy Tribble, Barbara Brassell, Beverly Lewis (George), and Brenda Smith, brothers Robert Brassell (Jacqui) and Ken Brassell (Susanne), goddaughter Amanda Hill, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
June was a loving, independent, and headstrong person. As the second oldest of twelve siblings, she was a natural-born caretaker, and acted as a second mother to her younger siblings. While she was in High School, she met the love of her life, Jack, at the Hippodrome Skating Rink in Nashville. They soon married and were married for 71 years, until Jack's passing in 2022. She retired from her position as an Executive Secretary at Life and Casualty Insurance Company after 35 years. June began her career at Life and Casualty in the Typing Pool, and worked her way up to Executive Secretary where she, in typical June fashion, was in charge of the entire 29th Floor. June loved crafting, traveling, and spending time in her flower garden and with family. Family was of utmost importance to June, and she took great pride in organizing all her family's reunions and gatherings, and was of course always in charge of snapping the family photo. June was known to always have a camera in her hand, and was estimated to have taken upwards of thousands of photos over her lifetime. She was also an avid University of Tennessee fan, and her heart beat to the tune of Rocky Top. She was never more at home than when she was in Neyland Stadium cheering on the Vols. June was loved by many, and will be missed dearly.
