Mr. Samuel David James "Jim" Johnston's Obituary
Samuel David James “Jim” Johnston, 69, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in his home on June 13, 2013 surrounded by the family members he laughed with, lived for, and loved.
Jim was born in Gardiner, Maine and resided in many places across the nation including Indiana, Florida and Texas before calling Tennessee home. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Philosophy and Psychology. Jim worked as the Vice President of Human Resources for Vanguard Health Systems. Jim was a loving father, husband, brother, mentor, and friend to all. He loved the ocean, scuba diving, sailing, riding on his Harley, traveling, and spending time with his beloved family.
Besides his beautiful wife Karen, Jim is survived by his two sons, Kent Johnston of Portland, Oregon and Andrew and his wife, Lana Johnston of Franklin, Tennessee; his daughter, Ashley Johnston of Antioch, Tennessee; his sister, Mary and her husband, Edward Dengler of Sioux Center, Iowa; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be conducted at 2 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2013 from the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 33 Burton Hills Boulevard, Nashville, TN with Pastor Jack Foster officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until the time of service, Saturday at the church. Interment will be private.
