WILSON (Sweeney) Sarah Jane
Age 86, died on July 6, 2014. Born in Cheatham County Tennessee, she spent most of her life in Nashville. She worked as a bookkeeper and retired from Steiner Liff Industries.
Jane was blessed with the love of two devoted husbands, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married for 36 years to Vernon H. Sweeney and together they raised two daughters. Later she married Dewey B. Wilson; they were married for 24 years.
Jane was a faithful member of Eastwood Christian Church since 1955. She was a member of the Service Bible Class, a deaconess, member of the Joy Women’s Circle and a Sunday school teacher. She was also Brownie Scout leader. Jane was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star where she held numerous offices including Worthy Matron. She also served as Mother Advisor to the Order of Rainbow for Girls.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ellen Lewis (Raymond) and her younger daughter, Ruth, as well as Dewey’s daughter, Betty Marina. Her grandchildren are Kristin Thompson, David Thompson, Joseph (Erin), Kevin (Carolyn) Marina and Jason (Katey) Marina. Great grandchildren are Dylan Thompson, Caden & Alayna and Ryan & Allison Marina. Her first great grandchild, an infant, Carson Justice Thompson also preceded her in death.
The family is very appreciative to everyone on staff at Golden Living Brandywood for their excellent care and attention to “Miss Sarah” during these past years and for the recent kindnesses and care from High Point Hospice.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Eastwood Christian Church on Saturday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider Eastwood Christian Church at 1601 Eastland Avenue Nashville, TN 37216. Interment will be private.
