Mrs. Sharon Lee Richards Hollaway's Obituary
Sharon Lee Richards Hollaway, age 70, passed away peacefully January 11, 2015. She was born on April 7, 1944 in Ithaca, NY to Erma Perkins and was soon adopted by Harry and Alice Richards. She had two sisters; Jane (deceased) and Natalie. When Sharon was 2, the family moved to Miami, FL. Sharon later moved to Athens, TN for college. She spent most of her life in Nashville, TN.
She also received additional education at MTSU, UT, and Trevecca Nazarene College. She was a certified elementary school teacher however reading was her specialty throughout her 32 years in education. Sharon also spent 11 years teaching volunteer tutors how to teach reading as well as volunteering herself. She directed the adult literacy program in Nashville-Davidson County. Under her leadership, the program grew from just 22 students to over 450 in some years.
She met and married John Wood in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Their child John-Paul was born in 1973. Sharon married Ernest Lee Hollaway and added two step-daughters Lori and Lynn.
Sharon leaves behind her loving son John-Paul (Jeannie); step-daughters Lori (Logan) and Lynn (Jonathan); grandson Carson and granddaughter Ava; and step-granddaughter Charlotte.
A visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday, January 14, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 11:00 am. All services will be at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Rd. Nashville, TN (615)865-1101, www.springhillfh.com
