Sherwood Harrison was born June 21, 1949, one of six children born to Haywood and Geraldine Harrison. His formal education was received in the Metro School System. He was employed with Metro Schools and Zimmer’s in Warsaw, Indiana for 20 years before his retirement. Sherwood accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Westwood Baptist Church.
In June of 2000 became one of the founding charter members and served on the Board of Directors of the House of Prayer Ministries. In the first Sunday in July 2001 he was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of Dr. James R. Larkin. He was a faithful and active member who served in every capacity of ministry including the choir and the Infinite Praise Team. He recently served as the chairperson of the outreach ministry for the homeless, was active in the men’s ministry, transportation, VBS and more.
Sherwood loved serving the Lord, his church and his pastor. He always went above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of his pastor and the members of House of Prayer. He was always eager to learn and study the Word of God, not only studying the Word, but living the Word.
He also loved spending time with his family and friends cutting up, laughing and having a good time and always teaching, guiding and encouraging them. He loved music and was a numismatist (coin collector).
He was preceded in death by his father Haywood Harrison Jr. and sister Dianne Harrison Baugh. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted children Tamika Phillips (Jonathan), Sherlyn Harrison and Larry Harrison; grandchildren Janaki Harrison, Jasmine Reams (Monterrace), Rontavia and Ronald Hayes, Johntez Bell, and Precious and Ladarius Harrison; great grandchildren Elijah, Kensley, Jákobi and Ronald Jr.; loving mother Geraldine Harrison; brothers Haywood Harrison III (Denise), twin Sherlock Harrison, Arcenta “Van” Harrison, Larry Harrison (Cheryl); a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly; special friends and family: Rita Russell, Michael Paschal, Rita, Barbara Ann and Linda Harrison, Darrell Davis, Johnetta Darden, Bobbi Jean Hardin, Sheila Clark, Sheryl Utley, his entire House of Prayer Church family and James and Karla Larkin.
