Ms. Shirley Barnett's Obituary
Shirley Gertrude Barnett, age 85, of Goodlettsville passed away on February 6, 2015. Mrs. Barnett was born on November 14, 1929 to the late Edgar and Effie McBroom. She was a loving wife, aunt, great-aunt, friend, and became like a second mother to some of her relatives.
Shirley was a very strong and honest person. She was a hard worker, both for her employers, and for herself. She was a bookkeeper for Caine Sloan and an accountant for the 76 truck stop in Ridgetop. She and her late husband, Gussie, owned Duke’s Market off of Trinity Lane in Nashville for many years.
Shirley was an active member of the congregation of Goodlettsville Jehovah’s Witnesses. She shared her faith with anyone who would listen. After her husband’s passing, she never remarried and remained in Goodlettsville for her remaining years.
The family will receive friends and visitors on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 2pm until 8pm and again on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 9am until 11am at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service to honor Shirley will take place immediately following Tuesday’s visitation, at 11:00am from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Garden of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
