Shirley Sartain Bates, Age 81, of Nashville, TN died on July 21, 2020. She was born on June 25, 1939 the daughter of Louis and Martha (Teal) Sartain both of whom preceded her in death.
Shirley was a very giving person, giving up her free time to care for members of her own family who have became ill over the years including caring for her own father. All family holidays were held at Shirley’s house where she loved to cook for her family especially her Mac & Cheese. Shirley loved to sit down and watch game shows and her favorite show to watch was Classic Concentration a matching game show from the 70’s. Shirley loved and cherished her family and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Sharon Kemp, sons Anthony Bates (Jackie), Danny Bates (Margo), John Bates (Claudia); grandchildren Amanda, Wesley, Evan, Sandi, Lane, Kayla, Noell, Brandon, Drew, Julian and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary Evelyn McClendon and her brother Randy Sartain Jr.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2020 at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery at 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216 from 4-8 PM. Shirley’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in the Sartain Family Cemetery in Manchester, TN at 2 PM on Saturday.
