Shirley M. Hyder's Obituary
Shirley Marie Hyder, age 71, a Nashville native, passed away on May 15, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Shirley is survived by her son, Thomas, daughter-in-law Hope, grandchildren Hazel and Thomas Jr, mother Julia Gregory and siblings Dorothy Blackwell, Kathy Kemp, John Gregory, and Angel Hill. She was also preceded in death by her father, Andrew Jackson Gregory, and brother Luke Gregory. She will be dearly missed by her family, including her nieces and nephews Jacqueline, David, Sara, Matthew, Heather, and David and great-nieces Autumn and Leila.
Shirley had a wild, stubborn streak and was known for her kindness and willingness to help others. A proud veteran, she served in the United States Army. After her military service, Shirley continued to serve at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. She was a true firecracker who never said no to those in need.
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to visit and share stories on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from four o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The funeral will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at two o'clock in the afternoon with a half hour of visitation prior to the service. Dr. Hubert Cunningham will officiate the service. The committal will immediately follow.
