Shirley Jean Craig Towns' Obituary
Shirley Towns passed away peacefully Sunday, March 19th, 2023, in Gainesville, GA. She was born in Nashville, TN on November 1st, 1940.
Shirley was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in Nashville, TN and the George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, TN where she received her master’s degree in special education. She retired from the State of Tennessee’s Department of Mental Health Division of Children and Youth.
Shirley is preceded in death by her father, George Darden Craig Jr., mother, Lorene Caldwell Craig Hemker, and brother, George Darden Craig III. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Forrest Craig Towns and Havilyn of Gainesville, GA, grandson Forrest Britton Towns of Gainesville, GA, granddaughters Julianna Havilyn Towns of Marietta, GA, Marimartin Hamilton Towns of Gainesville, GA, sister, Helen Craig Underhill of Nashville, TN, sister-in-law Vickie Craig of Hurdle Mill, NC, along with several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date in Lewisburg, TN where she most recently lived.
Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville, TN during a private family ceremony.
