I miss seeing you sing and perform. It was what you were born to do. I often look at some of the videos I would take at The Jetty. You were one in a million Stephan.

To the entire Lay family, as well as all extended family, I wish to offer my deepest condelences for this untimely loss. Stevie and I had a couple of solid years together back in high school. He was a year behind me. Other than bringing the house down performing his Showcase solos (he was pulling off Queen back then), a couple things come to mind regarding our friendship back then. Firstly, we would ride around, usually to Wal-Mart from his house on County Line Rd on my little Honda Spree scooter. Looking back we were channeling Dumb and Dumber long before the movie ever came out. I'm quite certain we looked ridiculous. Secondly, Stevie would take two tape recorders and two blank tapes. He would record his vocals on one, then play that one along to the other one recording his new vocal. He would do this multiple times layering his voice this way to create harmonies on tape. Full vocal harmonies all with his own voice! No doubt inspired by Freddie Mercury at the time. I remember just sitting there at his house in amazement. My heart aches for your loss. It is with sadness and sorrow that I write this message.
May his memory endure.
