Mrs. Stephanie Galloway's Obituary
On October 28, 2014, at the age of 44, Stephanie McLeod – Galloway mercifully entered the Church Triumphant after an 18-month battle with cancer. She leaves behind many loved ones. Her devoted husband David cared for her through this past year as well as their three wonderful daughters Arabella, McKenzie and Gabrielle. Stephanie was proud to be a step-mother to Christopher Galloway (Danielle) and grandmother to Cali (Panama City, FL). Stephanie will be sorely missed by her parents Robert and Carol McLeod of Haines City, FL; her brothers Robert McLeod Jr. of Annandale, MN and Michael McLeod (Jennifer) of Mukwonago, WI; parent-in-laws Frank and Virginia Galloway of Mt. Juliet, TN; brother-in-law Jere Galloway (Annette) of Jackson, TN and sister-in-law Liz Beatty (Yarnell) of Brentwood, TN. Stephanie was loved by many including her uncle David Loyd (Jenny) of Lakeland, FL and her niece and nephews: David Kramer, Lauren and Jayson McLeod, Cameron and Donovan Galloway and Alex and Matthias Beatty and cousins, Ashley Pero (Jim) and Robin Loyd (Stacy) along with many other family and friends. Stephanie was preceded in death by her grandparents Jean and Byron McLeod and George and Marjorie Loyd and her uncle William Loyd.
Born on January 31, 1970 in Hanover, Minnesota, Stephanie relished in time spent with family and friends on Lake Sylvia in MN and on the beach in Daytona Beach Shores, FL. She loved spending summers with her brothers and parents until she graduated from Buffalo High School (Minnesota) in 1988. During high school Stephanie achieved the impressive Gold Star level in Girl Scouts. She went on to earn a psychology degree from the College at Saint Benedict/ Saint John’s University in 1992 and became a nanny to the Sanger Family’s four children for the next six years. Moving to Tennessee in 1997 due to her love for county music and its closer proximity to Florida, she continued her nanny responsibilities with the McNamara Family for four years. Stephanie met the love of her life, David, in 2000, and they were married a year later on May 26, 2001 at their church East Brentwood Presbyterian where Stephanie was active in both the choir and the children’s worship ministry. After they were married, she continued to work with children as an enrichment preschool teacher for the next three years.
In 2002 Stephanie would begin a part of her life that she cherished the most…motherhood. “Bella” (12), “Kenzie” (10) and “Gaby” (8) were the lights of her life and the driving force behind her hard fought battle against the cancer. Throughout their time at Pennington Elementary School, Stephanie was known for the many volunteer hours that she spent helping the faculty on a daily basis in the classrooms and the library. Even after she received her diagnosis in April 2013, she never gave up being there for her family and her community. Although her presence will be greatly missed, Stephanie’s smile, faith and love for others can be seen in her three beautiful girls as they carry on her legacy.
Visitation will take place from 9-10 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at East Brentwood Presbyterian Church (9000 Concord Road, Brentwood 37027). The
Memorial Service will follow at 10 AM. A private internment of her ashes will be later that day at Spring Hill Columbarium in Nashville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Brentwood Presbyterian Church or to the “Stephanie Mcleod-Galloway Playground Fund” (to be built behind Pennington Elementary School) in care of Carroll County Bank and Trust (P.O Box 460/McKenzie, TN 38201), marked “For Deposit Only to the Account of David Galloway.”
