Don’t know what made me think of Stu, but I did and googled him. So sorry to hear he’s passed, great guy. Way back when I was hired to play steel on a Mel McDaniel tour. Stu had played on the Mel’s album and there were some sounds I just couldn’t quite get. There are lots of ways to get sounds on steel with all the pedals and knee levers. I was working at Combine Music at the time, and they called Stu and asked him to show me. What a nice guy, helped me out big time…. great player!

Stu was a great player and a great man. I have always admired his style on the steel guitar. I heard him and Hal Rugg on a session one night and they played a duo on a song, Tears On My Pillow and it was simply awesome. GOD bless his family and friends.

One of my all-time favorite musicians. First saw him on The Porter Wagoner Show in the 1970s. Stu and that Band were some of the best that Porter ever had to back him. Later in life, I finally met Stu. He was playing steel guitar for Mandy Barnett on the Opry. He was very professional and kind. I let him know how I enjoyed his talent. Before I left, I asked him to autograph my Opry program. So glad that I had the chance to let him know. He seemed very humble and appreciative. May God rest his soul and comfort his family, friends, and many fans worldwide.

I only met Stu Basore once. I had lunch with him, Marsha and Charlie Dick some years ago. Of course, I knew he was a well-respected steel guitar in music circles. In this private setting, he was nice and gracious...a true gentleman. May he fly high with the angels.
My thoughts and prayers are with Marsha and the family. May they find comfort during this difficult time.

First met Stu in Germany as he toured with Kitty Wells and he just knocked me out with his playing, Met him again in early 199? At the Texas Steel guitar show and told him he was responsible for me playing steel, hr said "Oh I am sorry" , LOL Rest in peace my friend , Job well done.

I met Stu back when he moved to Nashville to further his career in the music business, I worked with Stu over the years. My joy as band leader was having Stu work with us in the Waking Crew band for WSM's premier morning show. We had great fun and every day we all got to listen to Stu's amazing parts on all the music. It was a wonder to hear Stu's playing at all times!!!

I will be praying for you Marsha and the family for help through this difficult time, knowing that Stu had accepted Jesus as his Savior and he is with him now in Heaven.
