Rose J. “Sunny” McPhail, 72, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on May 21, 2024, at Tristar Hendersonville Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 23, 1952, in Eagle River, Wisconsin to John and Mary Rose Tijan née Adamovich.
Sunny spent her early years between Eagle River, Wisconsin, and Decatur, Illinois, before she and her family settled in Tennessee. She met her husband, Dave, while working at Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Sunny and Dave “eloped” in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 14, 1996.
Sunny had a great love for music and entertainment, and her tastes varied from the Oldies but Goodies to classic country music. Sunny's favorite vacation spots centered around the beach, and she enjoyed traveling to the beach with friends and family. Sunny loved bowling, billiards, and darts and was accomplished enough to beat Dave during their games. She also enjoyed fishing and could even bait her own hook.
Sunny was self-sufficient and was very handy around the house. From basic home repairs to sewing, she was skilled with creative problem solving. Sunny was a strong, capable person who others relied on for strength. She raised her two girls in the same manner and loved them fiercely; her vitality continues to live on through them.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Dave McPhail, two daughters, Mary Kay and Chrissy Rose, grandchildren, Jacquelyn Rose, Brandon, Rhiannon, and Ethan, great grandchildren, Mary Crimson, Trenton, Avery Rose, and Emerson Blake, stepdaughters, Angela and Stephanie McPhail, and sister, Anita (Dan) Carter, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
