Susan Gail Buck's Obituary
Susan (Sue) Gail Buck, age 73 of Madison, TN left this world for a better world on July 22, 2025, at her home on Neely's Bend. She is survived by her daughter Sara Grace Heflin; her brother David Buck; sister Cheryl Buck Davison (Jim); niece Lindsay Davison; and brother Alan Buck (Tammy) along with a multitude of close friends and relatives.
When Susan was a young girl she was such a talented speller that she was invited to be on a television show in Nashville called Spelldown where she won cash prizes for her spelling ability. All through her school years she could listen to a lecture while reading a favorite book and retain both of them. Because of her high intelligence, Susan graduated from High School one year early, then graduated from David Lipscomb college in three years with a CPA and Bible degree. She went to work for Governor Lamar Alexander after graduating from college.
Even her closest friends do not know the amount of good she has done in her lifetime. Her kindness and generosity were legendary. Always the volunteer with a warm, compassionate heart and soul, she helped friends, family and strangers whenever she saw a need. She was always deeply spiritual. Her culinary skills where well known and she loved to cook for people. She had a dry, intelligent sense of humor, a love of trivia and complex puzzles, and she learned Spanish and French while living all over the world with her husband, Don and their daughter, Sara. After living in Lima, Peru, Madras, India, Hermosilla, Mexico, London, England, Lusaka, Africa, Maryland and Virginia, Atlanta and Huntsville, she bought 48 acres of farmland on Neely's Bend and began planting over 3000 trees, raising cattle, chickens, honeybees and organic fruit and vegetables after retiring from the IRS where she a budget analyst.
Memorial service will be held at Neely's Bend Church of Christ on Saturday, August 16th at 1:00pm. Visitation will be held from 12:30pm until time of service. A catered meal and desserts will be served in the fellowship hall of the church following the service.
