Mrs. Susie H Corbitt's Obituary
Susie H. Corbitt, age 93, of Antioch, Tennessee, passed away peacefully from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Friday, December 13, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Earl Corbitt; parents John L. and Martha W. Simpkins; sister Mary Orndorff; brother James Simpkins and great-grandson Braden Jenkins. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Jenkins (Steve), Cherre Bowen (Chris); two sons, John Corbitt (Shelby), David Bass; grandsons Steven Jenkins (Sarah), Aaron and Justin Corbitt, David Bass Jr.; granddaughter Kristina Wojtkowski (Steven); great-grandsons Carson, Connor and Cooper Jenkins; great-granddaughters Gisella and Brielle Corbitt, Elsie and Amelia Wojtkowski.
Susie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. She worked in the printing industry where she met her late husband Earl, and was retired from Williams Printing Company after many years of service as a bindery and folding machine operator. She enjoyed keeping children in her home, spending time outdoors, shopping, talking on the phone, collecting “anything frogs”, and vacations on the beach in Florida at the home of her son and family. Susie loved wearing red and eating “sweets”. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh, and her smile always lit up the room. most of all, Susie loved spending time with her family, teaching children in Sunday School, and singing in the choir at Whitley Memorial Baptist Church where she and her late husband, Earl, were members and he was former Pastor.
Visitation for Susie will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 11 AM to 1 PM at which time a Celebration of Life Service will be conducted from Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110, Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216 officiated by Scott Gillon, Pastor, Whitley Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Avalon Hospice for their wonderful care and support, and to her loving personal caregiver Rita Kimbel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
