Suzanne Marie Davis Dempsey's Obituary
Loving daughter, caring mother, and devoted wife of 47 years, Suzanne Marie Davis Dempsey, age 69, passed away peacefully with family on June 23, 2019.
Suzanne, a native Nashvillian, began working with National Life and Accident Insurance Company in 1969 and retired as a life underwriter 45 years later under the evolved company name of AIG.
Suzanne was a woman of many interests and held a great appreciation for relics of a bygone era. She was especially fascinated with American history, literature and art, and had a casual mastery of classic cars, old architecture and antiques. Suzanne was also a film aficionado with a particular love for the Golden Era of Hollywood.
Music was what made Suzanne truly come alive. She was an avid connoisseur whose passion transcended genre. She cultivated an extensive knowledge of blues, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll, soul, R & B, traditional country, bluegrass, classical and gospel music. Suzanne was also a talented singer and one of her greatest joys was being a member of the choir at East End United Methodist church.
Suzanne was a nature enthusiast and loved birdwatching, gardening and traveling with her husband Eddie. Among her favorite places they visited were the Maine coast, the Monterey Peninsula, Sedona, Taos and Santa Fe, NM, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the Tetons, and the mountains of East Tennessee.
Above all, Suzanne was a kind, sensitive soul who could light up a room with her smile. Her laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
Suzanne, preceded in death by her father, Smith D. “Smokey” Davis, is survived by her mother, Marie Massey Davis; husband, Miles Edward “Eddie” Dempsey; and daughter, Lara Davis Dempsey.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Funeral service will be held at East End United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 30 at 1:30 p.m. preceded by a visitation at 12:30. Burial at Spring Hill Cemetery will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, Suzanne requested donations be made to East End United Methodist Church.
