Mrs. Tamella Lynn Richards' Obituary
Tamella Lynn Richards, age 59 and known to all as Tami, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Alive Hospice in Madison, TN after a 15-month battle with cancer.
Tami was born and raised in Nashville on her family's farm and remained in the immediate area her entire life.
She was married to Ronald Steven Whitaker for almost 30 years.
Tami has one daughter and one grandson and has loved them both fiercely and unconditionally and will be remembered by them as a loving, protective and giving mother and nana. She was devoted to her family and was determined to help care for her elderly mother while ill herself and taking chemotherapy treatments. Tami's love for her dog Chloe shall not be forgotten as well. She had a strong work ethic beginning as a child on the family farm which carried on into her adult life. Tami always spoke her mind and had a unique "pet name" for those she liked. She will not be forgotten.
She is survived by her daughter, Tausha Whitaker Tobitt; grandson, Noah Tobitt; parents, Gus (Jack) Richards Jr and Rebecca (Beck) Richards; sisters, Georgia Richards and Willie Richards; brothers, Gus Richards III (Trey) and Troy Richards; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Johnson, who passed away many years ago.
Funeral services and burial will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike S, Nashville, TN on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10a to 1p; service at 1p; burial immediately after.
