Thelma J. Petty's Obituary
Thelma Jean “Aunt Zee” Petty , passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016. Thelma was born to Roy Burton Petty and Nettie Rose (Sudekum) Petty in Nashville on April 16, 1927.
Thelma was a lifelong resident of Nashville and a member of Grace Baptist Church, the JOY Sunday school class, an active member of the Baptist Business Women, serving as President of both the Nashville and State Chapters. Thelma retired from GENESCO with 40 years of service and also served as a Opryland tour guide for many years.
Thelma had a deep love and appreciation for Nashville. She could often be seen taking photos of Nashville. She contributed photos to the "Memories of Nashville" video. She was also an avid and knowledgeable historian of her hometown. In addition, she took great pride in playing her violin for her family and friends.
Thelma is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Betty Petty Gehrig.
She is survived by her nephews Howard F. Gehrig, Jr., Randy (Kathy) Gehrig, her nieces Mary Jean (Randy) Karnes, and Aprille (Jamie) Stinson, and special Christian friend Darleene Smith.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 3-7pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 10am in the Chapel at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
