Mr. Thomas E. Bradbury, Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas E. Bradbury, Jr. was born at home on Meridian Street on All Saints Day, November 1, 1924, and died at home February 1, 2015, less than five miles away in his beloved East Nashville. He was the only son of Lois Paschall and Thomas E. Bradbury, Sr. and was 90 He is preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Joyce and Martha Jo, and a nephew, John Holder.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Fritzie Yount Bradbury; two children, Ellen Bradbury of Franklin and Paul (Janice) Bradbury of Greenbrier; and two grandsons, Brad Johnson and Tommy Bradbury; much-loved nieces and nephews; and a very special grand-dog, Fritz.
A bird hunter, a car lover, a pool shark in retirement, and a die-hard Alabama fan, he played football for Litton before joining the Army, serving his country in World War II in the Philippines and Japan. A management retiree of BellSouth, he was a long time Pioneer team leader.
Most of all he was a generous and often anonymous donor to many individuals and nonprofits. He lived frugally, choosing to help others instead. He was a charter member of Dalewood Baptist Church serving as a deacon for many years. He loved his family and was a role model in how he lived his life and cared for our Mother. Arthritis crippled his body but he soldiered on through the pain, never complaining. His quick wit and sharp mind were with him to the end.
We would like to thank Dr. Thomas Johnston and his team at Centennial Heart, the caring staff at Willowbrook Hospice; and special caregivers Jill and Melissa. He loved the Lord and was ready to "get on the bus" to Heaven to be with his family. We will miss our husband, Daddy, Papa, Uncle Honey, neighbor and friend. Rest well.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, February 5, and one hour before the service at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 6, with the Rev. John E. Morgan, II and the Rev. Paul Wampler officiating with burial immediately after. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
