Mr. Thomas Franklin Pearson's Obituary
Thomas Franklin Pearson, age 89, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at his home in Portland, Tennessee. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 13, 1933. Tom was the son of the late Lamont Pearson and Lucille Scroggins Pearson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Martin, Peggy Vance, and brother E. Claude Pearson.
Tom was a proud Navy veteran and served for 8 years. He served his country well aboard the USS Fort Marion LSD - 22. He had several jobs after returning home from the Korean war. Tom started his own painting and wallpapering business, and eventually, he went to work at Saint Thomas Hospital as a painter until he retired. Tom was a quiet man who took pleasure in siting on the deck watching the hummingbirds,
squirrels and the dogs play. He was happiest at church and home. Tom was a devoted Christian and a member of First Baptist Portland. At previous churches, he played the bells and performed sign language for the sermons, and painted when needed. Tom adored his wife, Donna and loved his faithful dogs, Abby and Dirk.
He is survived by his wife, Donna McDaniel Pearson; son Marty (Debbie) Pearson, stepsons Eddie Pearson and Andrew Lynn Cavender (Connie), grandchildren Kyle (Rachel) Pearson, Shelby Alexander (Ryan), and his great grandson Theodore Pearson, as well as extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Tom at 11am on Monday, November 28, 2022 at First Baptist Portland (106 N Broadway, Portland TN 37148) with Pastors Tim Colovos and Dr. Kevin Shrum officiating.
