I knew Tom Peets as the owner of Viking Music in New Hope, Minnesota. I purchased several instruments, accessories, and amplifiers and received a lot of great advice. He knew me when I was a student at Mankato State University, where I played in a cover band. He had a soft, guiding mannerism that I truly appreciated. I moved to Atlanta in the late 1980s and lost touch with Tom. Unfortunately, I had not googled Tom several years earlier as he was in Nashville, an easy drive from Atlanta. I still have a lot of equipment, and the Guitars for Vets sounds like a great way to use my instruments after I'm gone. I don't have a picture of me with Tom, but I'll share one of me as Tom knew me.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to Tavara and the family. Lawson and I met on the phone in 2016 as he was interested in representing our product, Strap Jack. It's funny how God used a little plastic $2 item to connect me to such a special soul. Whenever we'd talk, it was less about business and more about music and life in general - but, I chose to do more of the listening because Lawson had so many cool stories to share. I never had the pleasure of meeting Lawson in person, but it didn't matter...I still considered him a friend. I will miss him deeply and will always remember that friendly voice. There's a song that my band covers here in Boise that will now have a whole new meaning to me...and I will forever dedicate that song to Lawson whenever we perform it. The title of the song is "People Are Crazy" by Billy Currington. Thank you Lawson for sharing the little bits and pieces of your life and wisdom with me. You will be missed. - Glen Esteban -
Tomm was one of music's most enthusiastic ambassadors and one of the greatest friends an aspiring musician could hope for. Tomm guided and supported my early musical career in the early 80's and it's safe to say I would not be the musician I am today without his support. He was riotously funny and very warm and kind. I have countless great memories of him. Absolutely one of a kind. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies to his family.
Our deepest regrets to all of Tomm’s family and friends. He was a talented, honest, and joyful person to be with personally and professionally. Like you, we will mourn his passing. Bob and Jan Knotek (Minneapolis)
Lawson was such a good acquaintance and friend to me and my family for the last 23 years. I met him at Gibson Guitars and we still are doing business all these years later. I was very fortunate to have our last conversation and laugh together a few weeks ago.We all will sure miss such a man as Lawson. Mike Palmer and family MAIN STREET MUSIC AND LOAN N.C.
Lawson was an incredible friend to my family and I. He worked with my grandfather, my father, and myself and was always a fierce ally. I will miss our weekly conversations. He had an uncanny ability to bring levity to stressful moments and I will always be grateful for that. He taught me so much about the music business and was always just a phone call away. My thoughts are with Tavara and his family. Rowdy will be missed by us all!
Dearest Tavara and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Lawson will be missed terribly by his friends in our Cottages Community. Lawson has helped so many of us with "getting us up off the floor", entertaining us at community events and ways too numerous to mention. We love you, Tarvara, and will miss your wonderful husband. I will continue to offer prayers for all of his survivors. Hugs and kisses. Monica
