Thomas Lee Smith, Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas Lee Smith, Jr., 94, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife & best friend Bessie L. Winchester.
He is survived by daughter, Cathy & a granddaughter, Sylvia, both of Nashville.
Mr. Smith served proudly in the U.S. Army in WWII and the Korean War. He married Bessie in 1952 & lived in Nashville. He was a member of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce (JC's) starting in 1960. He retired in 1992 from Metropolitan Government, managing federal finance to metro for the Department of Labor under 6 mayors. He was a charter member of Frist Fine Arts Center for visual arts & donor symphony & centennial park Athena restoration, a member of the Fine Arts Center at Fairfield Glade and enjoyed art of watercolor, a member Hermitage China painters and belonged to a card group of friends over 40 years.
He & his wife Bessie, family and beloved friends enjoyed many summers traveling throughout Europe and Asia not to forget the many weekend excursions and beach trips with friends. The two of them were well known for their cooking & exquisite entertaining skills with ease!
Mr. Smith was a true gentleman known for his kindness and great sense of Style, always the best dressed man in the room.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Everyone is asked to gather at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216, at 1:30 pm in order to process together to the gravesite.
