Mrs. Vada Ann Smith's Obituary
Vada Ann Smith, 90, of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at her home. Born October 27, 1930 in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Jack Overton Crockett and Martha Lucile Clark Crockett.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked for the Tennessee State Department of Health for over 35 years. She was a proud alumnus of East Nashville High School and enjoyed participating in planning for the 49ers reunions. She and her husband, Carl, were also very involved in the creation of the East High Alumni Golf Tournament. For several years they hosted the after tourney celebration at their home on Brush Hill Road in Inglewood. Vada prided herself in serving homemade banana pudding that was loved by all. She also was a true historian when it concerned her family and friends. Vada took great pride in chronicling memories and achievements. She had a passion for organizing photo albums and sharing them with all those willing to take the time to enjoy them. She will be dearly missed by all that loved her but most especially by her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years Carl Smith; brother Coleman Crockett.
She is survived by her daughters Sherrie Ann (Charles) Cleveland and Carla (Lane Palmer) Locke; grandchildren Christa Moser, Tonya (Langdon) Newman, Chad (Brandi) Cleveland, and Sarah (Lukas) Novak; great grandchildren Vada Anslee, Amber (Jacob), Savanna, Nate, Ollie, Maddie, Vada Hana, Nela, and Kaiya.
A graveside service will take place Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service is asked to meet at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Thursday, May 13, at 11:30 AM.
