Velma Eileen Bateman's Obituary
Velma Eileen Hatfield Bateman, formally of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at home in Cary, North Carolina.
She was born on March 3, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Alfred Wesley Hatfield and Esther McCoy Hatfield. Velma was predeceased by her husband, William Eugene (Gene) Bateman and her sisters Effie Reed and Elsie Elmore, and her brother, Don Hatfield.
She is survived by her children, Ron Bateman (Kathleen) of LaVergne, TN, Sharon Bateman Craver of Cary, NC (Don Scurato), and Dale Bateman (Holly) of Clarksville, TN, and by her sister Roberta Burns of Brazil, IN. She is survived by her grandchildren, Randy Kendall (Elizabeth), Stephen Craver (Claire), Sarah Craver, Lindsay Bateman, Morgan Bateman, Briahnna Jacob (Ben), Brandon Webb (Emily) and Kaylor Siddens, as well as 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
While living in Nashville, TN, Velma was a member of Inglewood Baptist Church and taught the 4-year-old Sunday School class for many years, as well as sang in the Adult Choir. She was a member of the Women’s Sunday School Class for many years and enjoyed the fellowship with other members in her class.
The family cordially invites friends and relatives for a time of visitation on Monday, June 5th, 2023 from ten o’clock in the morning until twelve o’clock in the afternoon, with a celebration of life service taking place at twelve o’clock in the afternoon at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation and to Inglewood Baptist Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
