SFC Vincente H. Chaires' Obituary
Vincente H. Chaires, age 86 of Nashville, passed away August 9, 2013. Mr. Chaires was born on July 19, 1927 to the late Francisco and Concha Chaires. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bertha Chaires; sons Vince F. (Carol) Chaires, Vincent V. (Brisa) Chaires, Ernesto V. (Virginia) Chaires; daughters Virginia (Gary) Chaires-Smith, Tina Chaires-Sutton and Victoria Long; 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mr. Chaires served with distinction in the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army for 24 years serving his country in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was also the lightweight boxing champion while in the Army. After retiring from the US Army he owned and operated Es Fernando’s Restaurant for 25 years. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, August 13th from 4-8 P.M. and on Wednesday, August 14th from 10 A.M.-12 P.M. at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 14th, at 1 PM. with interment at Spring Hill Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Vincente H. Chaires Memorial Fund c/o Sun Trust Bank.
