She was preceded in death by two husbands, Sanford Gabrielle and Buford McDowell, parents, Constance Jaynes and Marion Leslie Jaynes, and a son, Karl Gabrielle, and four siblings, Ruth Helms, Frank Jaynes, Leslie Jaynes and Minnie Bell Simmons.

Mrs. McDowell worked at TEA for over 25 years as an administrative secretary. She was a longtime member for over sixty-six years of City Road Chapel United Methodist Church and volunteered for Christian Cooperative Ministries. She was always involved in her Inglewood community often taking care of friends but especially her family.
She enjoyed her time with family as well as going to the senior center where she could visit with friends. She would sew outfits without patterns for her friends and family. She was very detailed and could cook like no other. Her cherry pie was well known. She was found out in her garden and would can her own vegetables. When she would travel she would be asked where and her reply was “it’s a mystery” earning the title of Mystery Trips.
The family cordially invites friends and relatives to gather and share stories on Friday, April 14 from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 511 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The family will also gather for an hour prior to the service on Saturday, April 15 from twelve o’clock in the afternoon until the service time at one o’clock in the afternoon at City Road Chapel United Methodist Church, 701 Gallatin Pike South in Madison. The committal will immediately follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions can be made to City Road Chapel United Methodist Church. (cityroadchapel.org./give)
