Mrs. Virginia Bennett Bates' Obituary
Virginia Bennett Bates, age 82 of Joelton, passed away June 7, 2013. Mrs. Bates was born December 28, 1930 in Smith County, TN to Dewey B. and Bessie Bellar Bennett.
She was a long-time member of the Church of God and read her bible daily. In her earlier years she enjoyed camping, flowers, gardening and canning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Lofton Bates; four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sons, Rickey Lee and Jimmy Doyle (Patricia) Bates; daughter, Bessie Marie Vansel; brother, Jimmy; sisters, Sue, Judy and Katherine; grandchildren, Michael, Shannon, Mark and Melody; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Mrs. Bates’ life will be conducted at 12:30 P.M., Monday, June 10, 2013 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. on Sunday, June 9 and from 11 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at Spring Hill Funeral Home.
