Mrs. Virginia C Austin Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Virginia C. Austin Smith, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1939 and went to business school in Nashville. She worked many years as an accounts receivables clerk at several businesses in Nashville. She was a member of the Inglewood Methodist Church.
Her husband Joe never drove so she was the family chauffer to school and ballgames and on vacations.
She was a stamp collector and was a member of the Nashville Philatelic Society. She was also a member of the Fifty Forward Madison Station Senior Citizens where she volunteered for many things. She enjoyed Bingo at Senior Citizens. Keeping the family history updated was also important to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Joe. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Louise and W. R. Austin; brothers and sisters, Bill, Annie, Sara and Frances. Virginia is survived by her sons Richard Smith and Mac (Vicki) Smith; grandchildren April (Keith) Henry and Jonathan (Samantha) Smith; great grandchildren Jasmine Smith, Jordan Smith, Alizea Boyle, Justus Boyle; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, December 5 from 2-8pm. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 12:30pm on Saturday, December 6 all at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery. Pastor Andy Ingram will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Alive Hospice at 1710 Patterson St. and Second Harvest Food Bank at 331 Great Circle Rd. both in Nashville. The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care they received from her sitter, Oveda Allen and Alive Hospice.
