Mr. Wallace Edward Young's Obituary
Wallace Edward Young, age 67 of Nashville, passed away March 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 11, 1947 in Nashville to the late Joe Trotter and Annie Gertrude Meadows Young. Besides his parents, Wallace is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Gloria Ann Marie Choate Young and granddaughter, Estelle Ann Marie Young.
Wallace served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. His family remembers him as a hardworking man. After serving five years in the Army, Wallace drove a truck for Shoney’s and Elm Hill Meats. He was an advocate for the mental health field, and spent much of his life as a caregiver at Centerstone Mental Health Facility. Wallace and his wife were foster parents from 1976 until his passing, and he regularly attended 11th Street Church of Christ.
Wallace is survived by his son, Wallace Young, Jr. (April); daughter, Cathey Young (Tony); brothers, Roger Young (Cathy) and Kenneth Young (Beth); sisters, Edna Shadowens (Johnny), JoAnn Justice, Betty June Martin (John), Glenda Mullins, Marie Boyd (Nelson); grandchildren, Corey, Eddy, Shelby, Kyle, Jordan, Ashley, Hayden, Hadley, Dana, J.R., Christopher, Faith Ann, Miyah, Shondell, Alora and Jaycob; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Nikolai and Gabby; special niece and nephew, Ellen Jones and Kenneth Choate; foster children, Misty, Theresa, Candee, Chris, Tiva and Tonya.
The family will receive friends at Spring Hill Funeral Home Thursday, March 12th from 2 until 8 p.m., Friday, March 13th from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 14th from 8 a.m. until funeral time.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, with Don Harper and Nelson Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn section of the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
