Walter ‘Wayne’ Petty, 81, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his home. Born July 25, 1939 in Nashville, he was the son of the late Walter Wilson Petty and Sarah Grace Adair Petty.
Wayne was retired from Baird Ward where he was an electrician. He and his wife, Patricia, were members of Donelson First Baptist Church. He was a patient, good natured man who loved his family and helping others. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing in the church softball league. He loved to fish, and could often be found watching baseball or football on television. Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. National Guard for 35 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Donald Petty and Kenneth Petty.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Petty; 3 nieces; and 3 nephews.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, November 29, from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Service will take place Monday morning at 11 AM at the funeral home and will be officiated by David Taft. Entombment will follow on the grounds of the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
