Walter Ronald "Ron" Compton's Obituary
Walter Ronald "Ron" Compton, 81, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Samuel Compton and a daughter, Angela Cole.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Compton, a daughter, Melissa Hester (Michael), a son, Brian Compton, two step-daughters, Deannie Hughes (David) and Dana Hight, grandchildren, Matt Hughes (Kacie), A.J. Hughes (Hannah), Carson Hughes (Christian), Turner Hester (Stormey), Drew Hester and his fiancé Fiona McPherson, Reed Hester, Hailee Hester, and Savanna Cole, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Sam Compton (Carolyn), a sister, Peggy Crosby-Klugman, and four nephews.
Ron was part of many clubs including; Mid-Tenn Classic Chevy Club, The National Corvette Club and The National Commodore Club at Vanderbilt. He worked at Dupont for close to 40 years. He made many friends from all the clubs he was part of along with those at Dupont. He kept these friendships all through the years. His passions were mainly Vanderbilt sports, antiquing and anything to do with classic cars especially collecting them. He was quite the story teller and would love to tell those stories to anyone who would listen.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 16 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 17 at 12:00 pm also at the funeral home. The family will have an hour of visiting prior to the service. The committal will immediately follow.
