Mrs. Wanda F. Baxter's Obituary
“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow.” -Maya Angelou
Wanda Baxter passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and enveloped in love on the morning of March 31st. She was an avid reader, lover of horror movies, a connoisseur of beer, she loved to sew and crochet, and had a vocabulary that could make a sailor on shore leave blush like a young Victorian era maiden. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend; and she loved nothing on Earth more than her grandchildren and great grandchildren (except maybe Stephen King). She was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Baxter, her mother and father Joyce and LD Welch, her sister Sharon Thomas, granddaughter Ashley Bacon, and her son Johnny Baxter. She is survived by her daughter Katie (Tommy) Robinson, her sons Johnny (Lynn) Bacon and Tommy (Robin) Baxter, grandchildren TJ, Taylor, Jackie, Josh, Deven, Brittany, Wesley, Samantha, and Johnny, and 11 great grandchildren. As there will not be a funeral or memorial service at Wanda’s request, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Wanda’s name to The American Lung Association or The Hospice Foundation of America.
“When the night has come and the land is dark, and the moon is the only light we’ll see.
No, I won’t be afraid. Oh, I won’t be afraid.
Just as long as you stand, stand by me.”
-Ben E. King
