Mrs. Wilda Elizabeth Tidwell Newman's Obituary
Wilda Tidwell Newman, age 94 of Madison, passed peacefully at home on July 15, 2015. Wilda was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Newman; sister-in-law, Lucy O. Newman; sister, Aileen Huffines and brother-in-law, Donald Huffines; parents, W.D. Tidwell, Sr. and Ella Mai Tidwell; and son-in-law, Ronald Nolen, Sr.
She is survived by her brothers, W.D. (Ann) Tidwell, Jr., Rex (Judy) Tidwell, and Bob (Melva) Tidwell; daughter, Carol A. Nolen; grandchildren, Valarie, Rhea, Wayne, and Bubba Nolen; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Ryan, Jada, Caitlin and Olivia; son, David Newman; grandchildren, Krista Newman, Kaci Mexic, and Kimber Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Levi, Lynnlie, Adelyn, and Micah; as well as two dogs and three cats.
Wilda loved her church family and was a long-standing active member of the Hendersonville Church of Christ, reading and studying the Bible, reading books, watching Andy Griffith, Bonanza, and Gunsmoke. She watched all kinds of sports and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, UT and Vandy football, KY, Duke, and NC basketball, Nascar’s Jeff Gordon and Dale, Jr. She also enjoyed taking care of her family and pets, Oakley, Rayder, Old Kitty, and she loved watching her kittens, Bubbie and Sissy play and grow. She loved to travel with family, go antiquing, and travelling to Pennsylvania twice a year, as well as Gatlinburg, and all across the USA. She graduated from East High School.
Wilda’s family will receive friends and visitors on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 9am until 12pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Elder Sellers Crain, Jr. will lead a Celebration of Life Funeral Service to honor Wilda on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 12pm from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill garden of Historic Spring Hill Cemetery with Wayne Nolen, Bubba Nolen, Bryce Nolen, Ryan Williams, Jerry Tidwell, and Bill Tidwell serving as Pallbearers.
