William Bryan Ward, Sr.'s Obituary
WARD, Sr., William (Bill) Bryan of Hendersonville Tennessee passed peacefully on August 22, 2010 at the age of 74. He is preceded in death by his mother; Jessie Virginia Williams Ward, Father; Jack Louis Ward Sr., brother; Jack Louis Ward Jr., brother; Ray Ward and daughter Carrie Elizabeth Ward. Mr. Ward is survived by his wife Charlene Norman Ward , married for 53 years, son; William Bryan (Maria Overstreet) Ward Jr. and son; Barry Norman (Pat) Ward along with grandchildren Sean Conway, Mary Pat Conway and David Ward. Survived by sisters and brothers; Martha (Tom) O’Dell, Patsy (Butch) Burnette, Tommy (Sandy) Ward and Ricky Ward. He was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School (55). He was an All Metro Conference player and earned a football scholarship to Vanderbilt. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Ford Motor Company Glass Division after 36 years. He enjoyed playing golf at Blue Grass Country Club for years, coaching sports and was a supporter of Vanderbilt athletics. Mr. Ward was a season ticket holder of the Titans and avid fan. Thanks goes out to Joseph & Fanny Laoyan and supporting staff at Long Hollow Terrace. Pallbearers for the services are Joe Haley, Stennis Smith, Joe Towe, Carl Easterling, Richard Murphy, Johnny Norman, Bill Butler, Sean Conway, and Don Greer. Honorary pallbearers Jake Jacobs, Joseph Laoyan, Lawrence Watson and class mates of Isaac Litton High School class of 1955. Visitation with be held at Springhill Funeral Home Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 2 PM – 8 PM and Thursday August 26, 2010 from 12 PM to 2 PM. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010, 2 PM at Springhill Funeral home and directly following grave site burial ceremonies. Dr. Bruce G Chesser minister at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville will preside over services. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.
