William Darrell Corbitt's Obituary
William Darrell Corbitt — A Life That Lit Up the Room
December 26th, 1957 - November 15th, 2025
He always said he felt most alive when a hummingbird flashed past the porch. William Darrell Corbitt, the life of every gathering, left us on November 15th, 2025, but the spark he shared stays bright.
He was born on December 26th, 1957, a big brother and later a confidant to his sisters and brothers. William now reunites with his mother Ruby Faye Corbitt, sister Carla Perry, and brother Johnny Ethridge, while his sister Lisa Reid and brother Jeremy Ethridge hold his memory close.
His circle of friends was family in all but name. Best-friends Carrie Moore, Carrie Carmean, and Randy Koehler, along with friends Larry Dodds and Steven Townley, nephew J.J. Swafford, recall how his laugh could fill a room.
Creative, compassionate, kind, confident, and hardworking, William poured those gifts into music, arts and crafts, cooking, and any chance to travel somewhere new. He never missed a beat, whether picking a tune, seasoning a skillet, or mapping the next road trip.
Hummingbirds delighted him because, as he once joked, they were tiny but fearless. Remembering that light moment reminds us to keep our own courage small and swift, just like he taught by example.
We will think of him when a song starts up, when paint meets canvas, or when a hummingbird hovers outside a window. Rest easy, William; your joy keeps flying.
