Mr. William Hooper's Obituary
William Blick Hooper, age 90, born on July 6, 1926, and passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017. His parents were Robert B. Hooper, Sr. and Myrta Francis Blick Carney. He was educated in Davidson County Schools and attended YMCA Law School for two years.
Mr. Hooper served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and is a member of the Donelson Church of Christ.
Brother Hooper was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in McWhirtersville Lodge No. 375 on February 21, 1969 and served as Worshipful Master during 1976.
He was exalted in Donelson Chapter No. 234 Royal Arch Masons in 1969 and served as Excellent High Priest during 1984. He received the Order of High Priesthood in 1984.
He was in greeted in Nashville Council No. 1 Cryptic Masons in 1969 and served as Illustrious King of the Order in 2004.
Sir Knight Hooper was knighted in Nashville Commandery No. 1 Knights Templar in 1969 and served as Commander during 1985. He was made a member of the Knights Crusaders of the Cross in 1986.
He was inducted into Tennessee Priory No. 15, Knights of York Cross of Honor in 1985 and was awarded the Knights of York Grand Cross of Honor in 1992.
He is a Life Member of the Middle Tennessee York Rite Association having served as President in 2000. In 2003 Brother Hooper was honored as Middle Tennessee York Rite Mason of the Yar by the Association.
He is a member of Middle Tennessee York Rite Sovereign College No. 143 and served as Governor in 1999. He was awarded the Order of the Purple Cross from the York Rite Sovereign College of North America and elected as Associate Regent in 1997.
Sir Knight Hooper is a member of Old Hickory Conclave Red Cross of Constantine serving that body as Sovereign during 2003.
He is a member of the Societas Rosicruciana In Civitatibus Foederatis in Tennessee having served as Celebrant during 2001.
Sir Knight Hooper is a member of Arch E. McClanahan Council #358 Allied Masonic Degrees and served as Sovereign Master of the Council in 2005.
He is also a Member of the Knight Commanders in Tennessee, Memphis Asylum #1 and Chattanooga Asylum #2.
In 1989 he received the Demolay Honorary Legion of Honor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Alice Joann (Webb) Hooper; this life-long union took place on April 2, 1948. In addition, he is survived by; two nieces, Beth Hooper Garvin (Bob) and Janet Clough; nephew, Andrew Clough (Melissa); special friends, Reverend Dickie and Dolores Johnson, Jim and Sara Hafner. Mr. Hooper is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Masonic Service beginning at 7 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home with an additional visitation on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be; Jason Thompson, James Andrew Clough, David Reed, Michael Pinto, Paul Wingler, and Bob Garvin.
Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be; James Hafner, Johnny Byrd, Wayne Elder, and Gary Davis.
