Mr. William Odell Jackson's Obituary
William Odell Jackson, Sr., age 80 of Goodlettsville, passed away on January 9, 2016. Odell was born in Nashville, TN on November 29, 1935 to the late Louie and Georgia Jackson. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.
Everyone agrees that Odell was larger than life. His laugh, loud and boisterous, came easily. He was the life of the party and told the best stories. For many years, he played guitar and sang for his country band, Dale and Odell and the Cherokee Ramblers. He was retired from 36 years with Metro Water.
Odell was a man of faith and had been a member of the Madison Church of Christ for many years before becoming a member at the Rivergate Church of Christ. God and family were the most important parts of Odell’s life.
Odell was married to Georgia Jackson for nearly fifty years, until her death in 2001. He is survived by his children, Donna Beggin (Larry) and Dell Jackson, Jr. (Tina); brother, James Marion Johnson; grandchildren, Amber (Richard) Franklin and Dustin Wright; and great-grandchild, Bryndal Franklin; as well as many friends, all of whom he loved dearly.
Odell’s family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 5pm until 8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 10am until 12pm. Pastor Norman Slate will lead a Funeral Ceremony to honor Odell on Wednesday at 12pm from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
