William Joseph Carver Sr.'s Obituary
William Joseph Carver Sr. 84 of Nashville was born on April 14, 1927 and passed away on September 16, 2011. Mr. Carver is preceded in death by parents Theo and Mary Cecelia Killen Carver, first wife Rae Rita Alessio Carver, grandsons William Joseph Carver III, William Angelo Mercy, and brother Theodore E. Carver. He is survived by wife Jeri Alessio Carver; children Denise Musgrove (Bob), William J Carver Jr. (Christina), Angela Wright (Mike), Cecilia Adams (Chase), Dorsey Luchok (Joe), Christopher Carver (Donna), Michele Luter (James- deceased), Dorothy Hardin Mercy (Mark). Grandchildren Jessica Olsen (Kyle), Meredith Musgrove, and Erica Musgrove, Elizabeth Carver, Catherine Carver, Marshall Trauernicht (Kelly), David Wright, Megan Autry (Michael), Chase Adams III, Rachel Rae Carver, Abigail Carver, Stephen Luter, Charles Mercy, Matthew Mercy, and Daniel Mercy; 6 great-grandchildren Gabriel Olsen, Douglas Olsen, Jordyn Trauernicht, Bryce Chambers, Brayden Trauernicht, and Michael Autry Jr.; sisters Rose Kirkpatrick (Robert), Joanne Darmanin (Frank), and Mary Ellen Hamlet (Charles), sisters-in-law, Mary Finley McIlwain Carver, Zoe Alessio Busse, and Iris Alessio Brown; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carver was a past president of The Nashville Electric League; former member of the Barber Shop Harmony Singers, formerly known as SPEBSQSA, past Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus Council #3763; a current member of Council #544. Mr. Carver was a 4th degree Knight , and member of several 1st, 3rd, and 4th degree initiation teams; member of American Legion Post 5. He was employed for over 40 years with Tennessee Electric Motor Company. He was a graduate of Holy Name School, Father Ryan High School, and attended George Peabody College. Mr. Carver was drafted into the United States Navy immediately after high school where he held the rank of Fireman, First Class; he was trained in Bambridge MD, and served on the USS Huntington CL107, where he was a plank owner. Mr. Carver was honorably discharged in 1946. He has since attended The Ship's Reunion. Bill and Rae were married in July of 1948, she passed away in June of 1983. He married Jeri in May of 1984. He and his wife Rae, among other young couples, were the founding members of St. Joseph's Parish in Madison, TN. In addition to many volunteer hours spent at St. Joseph he also sang bass in the church choir. The grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Father Ryan Class of 1945, Everett Templeton, David Hardin, Albert Go, Jay Jacobs, Stephen Meyer, Oscar Minchey, and the employees of Tennessee Electric Motor Company. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's School; Christ the King School or the charity of your choice. A Life Celebration visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 3-8PM, 4th Degree will stand honor guard from 5-6PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10:30AM.
