William Pauly Jr.'s Obituary
William (Bill) Pauly Jr. of Hermitage, TN passed away in the early hours of Tuesday October 3, 2023 at the age of 91.. He was born in Nashville, TN to the parents of William and Francis Lannie Pauly. He was the grandson of John Pauly, who owned Edelweiss Dairy off Dickerson Rd in Nashville, for many years before WWII. William grew up in East Nashville on Stainback Ave. most of his life. He graduated from, what is formally known as, Litton High School. After graduation William enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve. He was a Navyman from January 25, 1951 through January 24, 1959. After returning home from the Navy William got a job working as a truck driver with Kroger Co. he was a member of the teamsters local 480 and retired from Kroger Co. He was a member of the Swiss Society in Nashville.
William was a man of few words, but his faith in the Lord was the most important thing in his life. He read the Bible everyday, and was a song leader at Green Hills Church of Christ for many years. He sponsored children and missionary trips through his Lord. If anyone asked how he was doing , his usual response was, “I can't complain”, he loved to tell everyone that his niece, Sandra, was “the boss”. If you ever needed anything he always said “ask the boss”.
After his faith in the Lord, his second love was his family. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He married late in life but, on February 11, 1981 he married the love of his life, Anna Ruth Lowe. William took great care of Anna up until her death on July 7, 2012. He never had a harsh word to say to anyone, not even Sandra when she was a teenager, and left his car empty and he had to walk to work. He just had that much love in his heart.
In his early years William’s hobbies were playing in a men's softball league, in Shelby Park in Nashville, TN. He and his wife worked on remodeling homes together. In his later years, he devoted his time to helping others and spreading the Lord's word. He also loved to grow beautiful flowers in his backyard,he mentored people and was a great listener but a wise man who gave great advice, always with the help of the Lord, but mostly he loved to sing Christian songs anywhere, anytime, and to anyone that would listen.
Mr. William Pauly loved well, was well-loved and will be greatly missed by many people: his family, his wife’s family, and his church family.
