Mr. William "Rocky" Smith's Obituary
Mr. William Wayne Smith, age 61 of Goodlettsville, Tennessee passed away on September 12, 2020. He was born on October 9, 1958 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Campbell and Mary Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Linda Parker and Wanda Burchett, and his brother James Smith. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Dena Williams Smith, his daughters Tabitha Danielle Smith and Angela Lea McElhiney, his brothers Jackie Smith (Beverly), Roy Smith, Charles Smith, and Alvin Smith, as well as his brother-in-law Terry Burchett. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
William was a hard working, man of faith who loved his family. He was always the life of the party, and lit up a room as soon as he walked in. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed cutting up and making jokes. He never met a stranger and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him loved him right away. His faith was very important to him and he loved God. William also worked for Metro Nashville Public Works for 24 years. In his free time he enjoyed church, bowling, and football. He especially loved the Tennessee Titans, the Washington Redskins, and Peyton Manning.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 4-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home, and again on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 10am-2pm at Madison Creek Baptist Church, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2pm at Madison Creek Baptist. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery has been entrusted with the final care of Mr. Smith. 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37216.
