Mr. William Matthew Spurlock's Obituary
William Matthew Spurlock, age 36, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at The Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Matt was born on January 12, 1980 in Madison, TN to Charles and Mary Lou (Kaiser) Spurlock.
Mr. Spurlock was an alumnus of both St. Joseph School and Father Ryan High School (class of ’99). Matt was the owner and operator of M. Spurlock disposal business and he was the co-owner of Spurlock Disposal, of which he followed in his father’s footsteps. He was an avid race car driver, with his number being #98. Racing was his number one thing to do during his spare time. Matt had a passion for the Christmas season and enjoyed decorating for the season. It was said that anyone passing by his home could clearly see all of the decorations to celebrate. Matt was lovingly referred to as “Uncle Mattie Clause” by all of the children.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Spurlock is survived by: two brothers, Charlie and wife, Joanna Spurlock, Steve and wife Kami Spurlock; two sisters, Jackie and husband, David Miller, Valerie and husband, Greg Cox; his fiancée, Kristin Delashmitt; four nieces, Amanda, Jennifer, Ava, and Emillie; two nephews, DK and Tom. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of life visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 4-8:00 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A celebration of life visitation will also be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 12-2:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1225 Gallatin Pike South Madison, TN 37115 with a celebration of life service beginning at 2:00 PM at the church with Father Ben Butler presiding; entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Jordan, Todd White, Greg Williams, Nick Jones, Rusty Taylor, Patrick Jones, Matthew Glenn, Jamie Castleman, and Ty Colbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matt’s friends from Highland Rim Speedway.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Angel Tree fund in Matt’s memory because of his fondness for Christmas.
