Mr. William "Corky" Taylor's Obituary
William "Corky" Alton Taylor, age 89, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019. He was born on November 2, 1929 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Clyde and Katie Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy Taylor, two sons Mark and John Taylor, and brothers Tommy, Clyde and Mark Taylor. He is survived by his wife Doris Read, his sons Bill Taylor, Russ Taylor (Tina), Joe Taylor (Donna), and his step-daughters Cheryl Read (Joel) and Cindy Williams (Rodney). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sarah, Brandon, William, II, Henry, and George Taylor, Tara and Taylor Knight, Tabitha Russell, and Alexis Williams, and Lauren; as well as his great-grandchildren: Samantha, Iris, Izzy, Robbie, Ava, Miles, Elizabeth, Eli, and Blake. He leaves behind a great legacy that will carry on with his memory.
Corky was a good man. He was kind, loving, and quick witted with a good sense of humor. He graduated from TIS and was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed going for walks, doing geneology research, and watching sports of all kinds - particularly Brentwood Academy football and wrestling.
The Taylor family requests that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Nashville Humane Society or Baptist Children's Home in Corky's memory.
A visitation will be held at Brentwood Baptist Church on Monday September 9th, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service beginning at 1 pm. An inurnment will follow at Historic Spring Hill cemetery at 2:45 PM. Spring Hill Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final care of Mr. Taylor. 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37216.
