William H. Thompson, Jr.
Whites Creek, TN
March 21, 1930 – July 15, 2014 – preceded in death by father W.H. Thompson, Sr.; mother, Odie Harris; brother, Reece Thompson. Closest survivors and relatives include his devoted wife of over 60 years, Beverly Jean (Overall) Thompson; niece Linda (Thompson) Jarrett (David); great nephew Josh Jarrett; great niece Jordan (Jarrett) Anderson (Scott) and their two children; sister-in-law Mayme O. Huff, nephew Stephen (Lisa) Huff and their children Matthew and Kristen Huff; nephew David O. (Jan) Huff; Mildred Espy his first cousin from San Diego and her son John (Jean) Hill, and their children Adam (Amy) Hill and Melissa (Matt) Brown.
Upon completion of his education at David Lipscomb and Vanderbilt University, he pursued several career interests; teaching public finance, planning projections for the State of Tennessee, promoting securities, but he found the most joy in being on his farm while developing a leasing system of cattle to dairy farmers in the southern states. After retiring from the cattle business, he and his wife helped bring more quality housing to this beautiful valley so near Nashville and for his effort, many local residents have thanked him. He was rightfully proud of his development of the Cherry Grove subdivision in Whites Creek as well as other lots in the community.
He was a lifelong member of The Church of Christ, having taught Sunday School classes at David Lipscomb College. He was beloved and appreciated by his family and respected by his many business associates and friends.
He served on the David Lipscomb Development Council, Davidson County Conservation Commission, Area Planning Committee, and was honored by Metro Council as a community leader.
