Willie Mae Cleek, 84, of Nashville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Born October 3, 1935 in Hickman, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William Charlie Pigg and Zena Mae Kent Pigg.
Willie Mae was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all of her heart and was known for her spunky, independent nature. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor. She and her husband, Bill, were both members Calvary Pentecostal Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. During her working years, she was a waitress at the Kauphy Pot (where she met her husband), a bookkeeper for Braid Electric and a cosmetic counter clerk for J.C. Penney. Willie Mae was a very talented oil painter. In 2000, one of her paintings won 1st Place at the Robertson County Fair. She also enjoyed making her own ceramics. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Robbie Barrett; grandson Ronald Lawrence Cole III.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, William S. “Bill” Cleek; daughter Ruth (Bill) Whittinghill; sons Michael (Mylinda) Cleek and William S. (Mary) Cleek, Jr; grandchildren Natasha Renee (Dean) Flener, William Sidney (Darlene) Cleek III, Derick (Ashley) Cleek, and Michael Eugene Cleek II; great grandchildren Sidney Ellis Cole Flener and Lyra Renee Flener.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 20, at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville from 4 PM until 8 PM. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service take place on Tuesday, July 21 at 12 PM Noon at the funeral with Pastor Walter Lee George officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors 2 hours prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Fitts, Bill Whittinghill, Charles Barret, Dean Flener, Larry Estes, and Ronnie Kent.
